This u shaped rear courtyard needed a sequence of spaces to add interest as a visitor walked from the home to the far backyard at top. A low brick wall separates the courtyard spaces from the larger main yard at top.

Sometimes in design it is a matter of completing a good design start. The drive and walk at left are complemented by the addition of a guest parking area and alternate walk to the front door. Also, a low retaing wall added drama and separation from the upper and lower spaces. Finally a water feature was added to the list of entry features.

This client wanted a border planting surrounding her space so we created a strolling path to enjoy the blooming plants while walking along the stained concrete path. To the left of the space is a decorative wooden arbor and to the center a raised concrete fountain basin and fountain centerpiece.

Having a artistic type of client can sometimes allow a designer to create more artistic expressions in the landscapes. Here we have used stained concrete slab as our canvas to create an elaborate floral design on a concrete patio surface featuring a raised fountain basin centerpiece and flanked by duel arbors to one side and a low seating wall to the other.

By removing the old patio near the existing porch and replacing it with a series of stained concrete pads leading to a new patio space to the rear, we allow for more plantings closer to the view from the living room and invite visitors out further into the garden. This makes a series of spaces and a more interesting design.

The large oak to the left in this plan inspired this casual walk leading to the front entry of this home. It includes a sugar kettle fountain nestled under the oak tree. Together with the style of this southern home it made for a picturesque scene once the foundation planting was included to completing the landscape.

The low brick wall added along this cul-de-sac lot, defines the property boundary and leads your eye to the main fountain. Surrounded by the front brick entry walk, this fountain basin is also made of concrete with a brick veneer. Using similar materials creates a harmony to match the home style and bring a unity of design. Together with slate accents makes for a rich hard-scape design solution.

This pool and outdoor kitchen area overlooks a five acre manmade pond. Adjacent to the pool, in addition to the outdoor kitchen complete with a grill, stove top and built in refrigerator, is a four foot by 8 foot arbor which has a 6 foot cypress wood swing. Creating a variety of garden spaces is useful for larger outdoor gatherings that need a variety of usable open areas.
